Second tallest structure in Belize (130 feet). The “axis mundi” of the site. Was built in two stages starting around 800 AD. The frieze depicts the birth of a god associated with the royal family, gods of creation, as well as the tree of life (from Wikipedia).
The site was a palatial, hilltop home for an elite Maya family, and though most major construction dates to the Classic period, evidence of continuous habitation has been dated to as far back as 1200 BC
